Underpass Music Festival Goes OnlinePosted by: Claudia Downs
The festival, originally planned to take place at the University of Sheffield Students' Union, has been rescheduled to October. In the meantime, they're putting on a weekend of music entirely online.
The Underpass Online Music Festival will take place on social media and their website on Saturday 30th May, 12pm - 10:30pm. The event is raising money for Sheffield Food Hall, the NHS and RAG.
The lineup includes a host of indie, pop and rock bands such as Larkins, APRE, Red Rum Club and more. Most of the artists hail from Sheffield and neighbouring cities Manchester and Leeds. With a mix of well-known artists and up-and-coming local talent, you can spend the weekend discovering new favourites.
The event is free to watch, but will be fundraising for charity on the day. 45% of money raised will be donated to Foodhall, a volunteer-powered Sheffield dining space and kitchen who, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, are working to provide food parcels, meals, essential supplies and support. Another 45% will be donated to the ‘NHS Charities Together – Covid 19 Urgent Appeal’. This money will then be distributed nationally funding grants to help NHS charities support NHS staff, volunteers and patients. The remaining 10% will be retained by Sheffield RAG, to contribute running costs and continue to support students' future fundraising efforts.
The original festival, with headliners Fickle Friends and Spector, will now take place on Saturday 17th October 2020, on four different stages around the Students' Union.
