In that weird time between Christmas and New Year, we went along to see the Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK Queens tear up the historic Sheffield venue - ‘We are the frock destroyers’!

In one of the first Sheffield outings of the Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK Queens, The Frock Destroyers – Blu Hydrangea, Divina De Campo and Baga Chipz – took to the Leadmill stage in proper Yorkshire festive spirit.

You forget just how packed a sold out Leadmill can be, and this night was to-the-rafters-full of fans keen to sing along to surely one of the most memorable tunes of 2019?

First up, Hydrangea’s in the game now. Giving us some true lip-sync assassin realness, she emerges dressed as the fiercest Buzz Lightyear you have ever seen. Next, the Brig’ouuse Beauty herself, Divina De Campo – not just giving great comedy, but also a genuinely fantastic rendition of Defying Gravity from Wicked. Finally, Baga Chipz comes on to tunes and rounds of ‘MUCH BETTA’ from the audience – this is an in-joke central and the audience are absolutely living for it.

In between our Queens, we get MotherTucker and the Boys giving us some festive crackers, a dance-off between audience members to win tickets and a DJ set from fellow Drag Race UK, Gothy Kendoll. Then the main event, the one we’ve all waited for – to be officially Frock Destroyed as the trio sing Break Up [Bye Bye] TWICE (thankfully, given that every single phone in the place shot into the air as soon as they started the first). Big, brash and ballsy – this gig truly warmed the cockles in that weird time between Christmas and New Year where no one knows what day it actually is.

Feel like you missed out? Don’t panic! Sheffield is hearing the call for more Drag Race to come to the city and has a cracking line up in the next six months, including: Sinderella – the Adult Panto starring Divina De Campo and Stacey Lane Matthews at Sheffield City Hall on Wednesday 5 February; Nina West at Leadmill on Wednesday 29 January; Miz Cracker at Leadmill on Thursday February 7; Adore Delano and special guests at Leadmill on Tuesday 7 April and Jinkx Monsoon at the Crucible on Wednesday 3 June [on sale soon].
