From festive wreath making and handcrafted baubles to festive films and gingerbread houses– there’s all sorts going on at the listed country house this December

Wentworth Woodhouse has announced a busy programme of festive crafting to keep all members of the family entertained throughout December.

First up on 4 December, they host two festive wreath workshops. Led by local Wath Company, Millie’s Floral Boutique, all materials are included to ensure everyone takes home a wreath to welcome their Yuletide visitors. The £55 price includes a Wentworth Cream Tea.

11 December sees a chance to learn how to use needlecraft skills to make handcrafted festive baubles for your tree. Sessions are held in the morning and afternoon priced at £30 and are suitable for adults and children over 11.

On December 12, it’s time to work up a lather making festive gifts with Sheffield company The Soap Loaf Co. Natasha Green, who runs the eco-friendly Sheffield business, will demonstrate how to make soap and bath bomb gift sets infused with festive, scented oils.

Gingerbread is on the craft menu on 17 December when chef and former college catering lecturer Jo Graham from Joy to Eat Cakes at Dinnington, heads up two Christmas cookie-decorating workshops.

Not to be one to miss out on the home-spun spirit, our head gardener Scott Jamieson will be teaching two classes how to make stunning - and eco-friendly Christmas table centrepieces on 18 December.

If Christmas cookies have given you the taste, Gingerbread house decorating with Amy from Tickle Mouse crafts is next on the agenda on 22 December. All the family can get involved in this 'sugar and spice' festive activity and up to two children and two adults can decorate one house together for £30.

Finally, what would December be without a Christmas film? The festive feel-good vibe extends to three festive cinema days at the stately home. Snuggle up in style in a state room to watch all-time Christmas classics Elf, starring Will Ferrell, or the 1946 weepie It’s A Wonderful Life, starring James Stewart, on Sunday 15 December, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22.

Hot chocolate and popcorn will be on sale to add to the cosy settings. Priced £12 for Adults £12 and £6 for children aged 3-12, these are proving very popular so book now to reserve your seat.

All of these sessions are available to book via Wentworth Woodhouse’s website or by calling 01226 351161
