With a catalogue of unmissable covers, including ‘Love will Tear us Apart’, ‘Ghost Town’ and ‘Sexual Healing’, New Orleans-based Hot 8 Brass Band bring the party wherever they go, and fortunately they bring their latest tour to our shores this February, with a stop off at Sheffield’d O2 Academy on Wednesday 26 February.
Hot 8 are an incredible raw and funky brass band that blends hip-hop, jazz and funk styles with traditional New Orleans brass sounds. Formed by Bennie Pete, Jerome Jones, and Harry Cook in 1995, they are famous for their boundless energy and toe tapping live performances.
The band have always believed in contributing to their culture by playing in traditional Second Line parades, expressions of freedom and community through music and interaction, earning a reputation on the streets, with seemingly boundless work ethic and energy: Hot 8 have been known to pack in nine shows in a single day!
That work ethic bring them to Europe next month, and their Mardi Gras tour stops at Sheffield’s O2 Academy Sheffield on Wednesday 26 February.
