Sheffield Student Photography Competition could see winner exhibit alongside renowned photographer.
Alumno, the award-winning specialists in the design and development of good quality and modern accommodation for students, in conjunction with Homes for Students, has announced a unique photography competition for students across the city, supported by Photo North.
The competition aims to reflect Alumno’s commitment to community, asking entrants to reveal what community means today, and what brings and binds communities together, be that a place, tradition, religion, employment, sexuality, politics, sport or other interest – or conversely what divides communities within the Steel City.
Working with the UK’s premier photography festival, with a reputation for creating outstanding events and competitions, Photo North will coordinate the competition, offering winners the opportunity to be exhibited at various venues across the city alongside leading and eminent photographer Peter Dench.
Participants can use portraits, still life, round images or documentary to reflect their interpretation of the brief, with the winner receiving an hour mentoring / portfolio session with award-winning photographer Peter Dench of the Photo North Festival.
The eminent judging panel for the competition includes Peter Dench, Fraser Wright of Harrogate College, Phil Welding of Leeds Arts, Rachael Burns of Redeye and Sharon Price of Photo North Festival.
The competition is open now, with deadline for entries 16 March 2020. Winner and runners up from the competition will be unveiled on Wednesday 1 April at the Photo North Pop Up at The Park Hill Shop, Pinstone Street, Sheffield.
