CADS team announce return to Abbeydale Picture House after their unexpected eviction last month

Following an agreement with the landlord the CADS team are delighted to return to the Abbeydale Picture House to continue their restoration project and to provide a multipurpose arts venue that is inclusive and diverse, reflecting the great cultural variety of the city.

Sheffielders dismayed at the unexpected eviction of CADS from the Abbeydale Picture House last month will be delighted to hear that following an agreement with the landlord, CADS have returned to this historic venue. They celebrated this return by immediately hosting an event on Weds 29th June. Their exclusive reopening night was totally free to the public. ‘Meet the Richardsons’ featured star comedians Jon Richardson and Seann Walsh filming a TV special in the newly spruced up Fly Tower area of the building.

The CADS team are totally committed to continuing their long-term restoration project and will make immediate use of the building to host events. Although the Auditorium will remain closed the Fly Tower area, behind the main cinema screen, will play host to film screenings, live music private parties and events serving the many different communities of Sheffield.

Steve Rimmer -  spokesperson for CADS said;

‘The last 8 weeks have been incredibly challenging and we are eternally grateful to everyone who has reached out with messages of support and kind words whilst we’ve been working on a solution.Our goal for the Abbeydale Picture House is still to restore this Grade II listed building to its former glory and ensure it is an asset to the Sheffield community.

The challenge is not over, it’s more vital than ever that people come out and support the Abbeydale Picture House. Please come and pay us a visit, volunteer, watch a film, make a donation and share with us your vision for an event so we can make it happen for you.’

The public are encouraged to get in contact with CADS with any enquiries around making use of the space -
