The annual competition which sees the best of Britain will return to Sheffield’s Fly DSA Arena this month.

The Iron Men of the country will return to the arena on 19 January to take on five Herculean tests of strength in a bid to be crowned Britain's Strongest Man 2019.

The strenuous line-up of 13 British heavyweights, consisting of a mix of iconic veterans and new stars, will compete in events which will see them hoist stones, throw kegs, carry cars and lift heavy metal.

Despite claims that this would be the final appearance of Britain’s Strongest Man, Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall, before he retires, it seems The 2017 World's Strongest Man took an early leave and will now be cheering on some of the world's top strongmen who want to follow in his footsteps and lift the British crown he has owned for a record breaking past five years.

Returning to the competition for his fifth year is Sheffield’s own Paul Smith, who is hoping to add to his ever-growing list of accolades by taking this year’s title.

The Sheffield strongman, who set a new world record in the Hammer Hold event last year, has already gained recognition as Northern England’s Strongest Man 2016 followed by England’s Strongest Man 2016, but now hopes to add the British title to his list.

The event is film as part of Channel 5’s Strongest Man Series which will also include the World’s Strongest Man competition which takes place throughout April and May this year.

The iconic heavyweight line-up consists of: Adam Bishop, Ben ‘Badger’ Brunning, Michael ‘The Bull’ Downey, Mark Felix, Graham Hicks, Terry Hollands, Luke ‘The Highland Oak’ Stoltman - Strongman, Aaron Page, Phil Roberts, Laurence Shahlaei, Paul Smith, Mark Steele and Tom Stoltman - Strongman
