Gravel Pit Homewares, on Abbeydale Road
The Sheffield plant pioneers have gathered together a load of your favourite Sheffield artists to create customised Kid Robots figures to sell off at their auction
Picture House Social will play host to a very special birthday bash and charity auction tomorrow evening (Wednesday 21 August) with all money raised going to Neurocare Sheffield.
It’s a year since the popular homeware store Gravel Pit opened their Abbeydale Road shop, and to celebrate they’ve gathered together an unbelievable team of Sheffield artists, including Tom J Newell, Jo Peel, Rob Lee, Zoe genders and Emma Peel, to create customised kid robot figures to auction off.
The auction will be held in Picture House Social, on Abbeydale Road
Gravel Pit co-owner Dan Mager said: “We’ll be auctioning off a whole bunch of customised kid robot figures (29 in total) created by a fierce team of Sheffield artists, along with other cool bits donated by amazing Sheffield peeps.”
Those bits include a £50 vulgar clothing voucher, Picture House Social gig tickets for the rest of 2019, Peddler Market Food/Drink/Masterclasses, goody bags, a £20 Freshmans Vintage voucher, £10 Bare Essentials voucher, a Free haircut at Mardy Barbers, a Lord Bunn “home” Screen Print and a Craig Davison Print, as well as Gravel Pit Care packages, which include £25 record voucher, £25 plant voucher, an awesome print and a bunch of toys and pins.
All the money raised on the night will go to Sheffield Neurocare, a charity that holds a special place in the Gravel Pit team’s heart (and head). Danny explains: “As many of you will know, my partner at Gravel Pit, Dan Wooton, recently had a brain tumour and the folks at Neurocare looked after him throughout. They were amazing, and he’s doing ok now, so we wanted to give something back.”
In response to the event, the Neurocare charity said: “A huge thank you to Gravel Pit and the all the artists involved for supporting the charity and the local patients we serve.”
The event starts at 7pm, and even if you don’t plan on buying a robot you can bust out your robot on the Picture House Social dance floor, to tunes provided by Low Profile Records, Dan J, Tom J Newell and Dj Esssqqq.
The figures can be viewed prior to the auction by visiting GRAVEL PIT EMPORIUM at 329 Abbeydale Rd and closed bids can be placed on the figures at the shop until the night of the Auction. For more info, head over to Gravel Pit’s Insta.
