Featuring The Yorkshire Candle Company
Posted by: Sam Pegg
A top class candle company that is sure to offer just what you are looking for
It all started in October 2015 for founder James McKennan, developing candles and other home scented products with a goal to create a product which was produced locally and by hand where possible. It was important to use responsibly sourced materials and to take inspiration from the surrounding area and popular outdoor spaces where the public spend recreational time. Over the course of winter in 2014 they produced over 1000 candles testing their materials, processes and the quality of finished products.
The Yorkshire Candle Company have a vast variety of candles and with the clever idea of championing certain areas in Sheffield through scents, they are masters in the art of making luxury candles. As they look towards reducing the impact on the planet while maintaining their product development and high standard of processes. Their roadmap includes goals such as becoming completely single use plastic free in the next 6 to 8 months, they are also looking to engage with programmes such as One Tree Planted in the coming months which will see The Yorkshire Candle Company actively planting new trees and regrowing the world’s forests.
In April 2015 they officially began trading at a local farmers market, initially they traded as The Sheffield Candle Company and were a small scale hobbyist at best, at this stage all of their candles were produced at home on a kitchen worktop. Very soon after they started to outgrow the kitchen at home and they began looking for their first premises in winter 2015. As the public’s knowledge of their products slowly grew they began trading away from their base in Sheffield and were a regular trader at the farmers markets in Leeds and further afield across Yorkshire, this is when The Yorkshire Candle Company was born.
