Thousands of fitness fans descend on Sheffield for the Trib3 gamesPosted by: Molly McGreevy
BBC Breakfast's Dan Walker hosted the Trib3 Games
8,000 people turned up to watch the inaugural games
Athletes from all over the world gathered in Sheffield’s city centre on 24 June for the first Trib3 games.
Fitness fans from across Europe took over Sheffield city centre’s Peace Gardens for a day of intense physical activity, hosted by BBC Breakfast presenter and sports commentator Dan Walker. 74 athletes, split into teams of three, went through the TRIB3 challenge - a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) work-out based around treadmills, resistance and intensity - burning up to 1,000 calories per routine.
Trib3 is the Sheffield-born boutique gym that has grown from one branch on Ecclesall Road to gyms at Krynkl in Shalesmoor and The Source at Meadowhall. Following their success in the Steel City, Trib3 is expanding across the north to Leeds and Manchester, and worldwide, with gyms planned for Moscow, France and Spain later in the year.
Inspired by more than 8,000 fitness fans gathering for the inaugural Trib3 games, Kevin Yates, Trib3’s CEO, said: “I can honestly say that Sheffield city centre has never seen anything quite like it. We can’t wait to be back again next year, and for the TRIB3 Games to spread to all our other centres across Europe as the brand continues to grow.
“Special thanks too to our host Dan Walker for making sure that the adrenalin continued to pump right to the very end of the day!”
