Secret 'Khristmas' bar pops up in KelhamPosted by: Ashley Birch
A Christmas bar serving mulled wine, craft ales, gin and fizz has opened in Kelham Island
Can you lot keep a secret?... You sure? Well, there’s a new festive bar open in Kelham Island’s Wharncliffe Works, on Cornish Street, but keep it under your (Santa) hat!
Khristmas Island popped-up over the weekend serving mulled wine, craft ales and gin to Kelham’s festive reveller’s delight. The bar, by brothers Nick and Matt Burgess, who used to manage the Champs bars in Malin Bridge and Ecclesall Road, is hoping to get the area in the Christmas mood.
Matt told VIBE: “Me and Nick have been running Champs for the last five years, but we’ve been planning to do our own thing for a couple of years now. We had the opportunity to open a pop-up and it went very well over the first weekend, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
“We want to make sure people are getting in the Christmas spirit, with Christmas songs and good drinks. It’s a great place to start or end your evening, as it’s just up from the tram stop.”
The pop-up is open from now until Christmas Eve, with opening hours are from 5 – 11pm every Thursday to Sunday, except for Christmas Eve, when it opens at 12pm and closes for the final time at 9pm.
Festive tipples, such as local favourite Farmer's Belgian Blue from Bardfield Brewery will be on tap, as well as mulled wines, gin and tonics from £4, and bottles of prosecco for £16.
The temporary bar is hopefully just the start of the lad’s plans for the Cornish works venue, but more on those developments in the new year. For now, go and join them to share in some festive cheer.
