Riverside Kelham pledges to support S6 FoodbankPosted by: Ashley Birch
They plan to give 50p to the food bank from every special sold
The Riverside pub, in Kelham Island, have chosen the S6 Foodbank as their charity of the year, raising money through their rotating specials and one of events, with 50p from each special sold going to the S6 charity.
May saw the introduction of ‘Mexican Month’, with Huevos Rancheros and a host of taco options being the newest additions to the specials options.
In June it’s South American dishes that are the star attraction, including Homemade Choripans, which is served in a crusty baguette with chimichurri, salad and chips! Choose between either homemade chorizo sausage or deep fried tofu. You can also get your hands on delicious Ecuadorian Llapingachos, which are cheese stuffed potato pancakes topped with avocado and fried egg

Matt Quinlan, General Manager at Riverside Kelham, says the move has been made to ‘help raise the profile of a great cause’ and encourages other local businesses to follow suit in helping charities and organisations that would benefit from the support.
Sheffield S6 Foodbank manager, Chris Hardy, was also keen to reiterate the importance of support from local businesses. He said: “Partnerships with local businesses are vital as they’re the beating heart of supporting local people who are in need.
“The foodbank had an increase of 23% this year, feeding nearly 7,000 people, so raising awareness and donations are vital to us.”
S6 Foodbank also works with Kelham Island food hall, Cutlery Works, who have so far raised over £2,000 for the charity.
