Recently acquired by True North Brew Co, the Crookes boozer is set to reopen following refurbishments next week

After a five month refurbishment under brand new management, The Punch Bowl in Crookes is set to open its doors on Tuesday 17 September.

True North, who already own a number of venues throughout Yorkshire and Derbyshire including The Broadfield and Riverside Kelham, are bringing their wealth of experience in the hospitality industry to reinvent the venue by asking the simple question: what makes a good pub?

From the food and drink, to the look and atmosphere, everything at The Punch Bowl has been carefully accounted for by the established team at True North.

Interior designer Paul Carruthers has taken the lead on the impressive refurbishment project. He said: “The interior will be a reflection of the restored character of the venue, the nature of the community and the personality of the company.

“So, a mixture of antique, mid-century, graphic design and contemporary art - my job is to make that mixture flow and, as I've suggested, above be comfortable with itself.”

Whether you’re after a vibrant boozer for after-work drinks, somewhere to enjoy a long lunch with friends or cosy stop off for a Sunday roast, there will be a fantastic range of food and drink options at The Punch Bowl.

Expect fresh, seasonal dishes made in-house by their talented chefs and an extensive drinks menu along with kegged beers and hand pull ales, gins and other spirits. You can even check out their full menus online now.

The Punch Bowl General Manager, Jonathan Kay, is a True North veteran, having working in the industry for over 10 years. When asked about his thoughts on Crookes’ latest pub, he said: “The Punch Bowl is a great place to meet up with friends and family in a lively and welcoming pub. We will have some great Cask ales, Craft beer options and a variety of cocktails! Plus, we’ve got incredible views over Sheffield from our function room – so you can even host your own private events with us.”

To celebrate the brand new venue, The Punch Bowl will be hosting an opening party on Friday 27 September, and everyone is invited. Head down from 7pm to check out the new venue and soak up the atmosphere, plus the first 50 people at the party can enjoy a Sheffield Dry Gin & tonic on the house.
