The Millennium Gallery café’s regular late night opening will be taken over by Belzan’s Sam Grainger next week

Liverpool favourites Belzan have caused quite a stir on Merseyside and their main man Sam Grainger is now set to winging his way across the Pennines to Sheffield on Thursday 19 September, to cook a one off special menu featuring a host of unusual dishes including his ‘McRabbit sandwich.’

The event will be the latest instalment of city-centre cafe Ambulo's regular late night opening, Hostile Takeover, where head chef Tom Aronica is given free rein to cook basically whatever he feels like.

For this special takeover, ‘Ronnie’ will be passing the baton (spatula?) to ex-Maray chef Sam Grainger, who has helped create a menu of ‘mindful, honest dishes’ at Belzan, in his home town of Liverpool.

As well as the McRabbit sando, other menu highlights on the night will include Rabbit nugz, Crump PoBoy, which consists of deep fried oyster crumpet, woodford rye, sauerkraut and charred lettuce, and Pork and Peach, a plate of BBQ pork neck, peaches and tonkotsu.

To make sure the drinks are as on point as the food, they’ve even roped in  Jack Wakelin  from Public to sling some special cocktails for the evening.

If you want a table for the evening just drop Ambulo a DM or email them at, and keep your eyes peeled for more Hostile Takeover Takeovers in the coming months.
