Harley to re-open next weekPosted by: Ashley Birch
Mitchell and Butler have revealed the grand re-opening date of the much-loved Sheffield music venue
Following The Harley’s shock closure back in April, pub chain Mitchell and Butler have revealed the venue will reopen next week on Thursday 17 October - and they've also posted a few sneak peeks of the work in progress on their new Facebook page.
The Glossop Road bar and hotel announced its closure ‘with immediate effect’ in a statement posted on Facebook earlier this year.
The statement, made on 5 April read: “The Harley, over the years, has been a beacon for new music, bands, and grassroots promoters and a home for the fantastic independent restaurant, Twisted Burger Company.
“Our events and music department, and key promoters, have begun working on a new city centre event space which will be announced very soon.”
Following the shock closure, less than a month later, the lease was put up for sale in an advert posted by Nicholson & Co Property Consultants, which suggested the ‘well-known landmark bar and hotel rooms’ would require investment, benefitting from ‘general improvement and modernisation’.
However, in August pub chain Mitchell and Butler, who own the venue, confirmed they were set to bring the venue back to life this autumn, retaining a live music presence.
VIBE contacted Mitchell and Butler, and a spokesperson confirmed: “From time to time we review our estate and have taken the decision to invest in this business.
"We expect to be reopening the Harley in the autumn this year, retaining a live music presence whilst enhancing the offer of the iconic Sheffield destination.”
