The ever-popular West Street bar reopens this weekend

The Cavendish on West Street has recently undergone a massive £250,000 transformation and, following the makeover, is set to reopen this Saturday, 25 January.

We’re told the venue has been fully refurbished in a colourful style, with pops of neon, comic book covered tables and retro features throughout. The venue also features an all new lounge zone and gaming tables. Sports fans will also be treated to the ultimate viewing experience with a new tiered sports zone, providing the perfect place to book to see the action – including the Six Nations from the 1 February.

It’s not the just décor that’s been changed at the popular student hangout either, with the bar promising new events including Wing Wednesdays, which offers the chance to tuck into chicken or cauliflower wings from just 25p each every Wednesday and DBL Points Monday, for those with the bar’s MORE reward card collecting even more points that can be redeemed on food and drink throughout the site.

In the evenings, the bar will ramp up the entertainment with a regular schedule of events and special offers throughout the week. With a themed quiz every Monday, karaoke every Wednesday, craft and cocktail night every Friday and gaming night Sundays.

Grace Baxter, General Manager at The Cavendish said: “We’re really excited about the new launch and can’t wait to welcome everyone to the new venue.

“Whether you’re a serial quizzer, new fresher or sports fanatic, we’ve planned plenty of events for locals to enjoy, as well as boasting one of the best surroundings in the area for watching major sporting events. Our brand-new team are ready to launch and hope that customers enjoy the new surroundings, food and drink.”

The Cavendish’s new menu includes several plant-based options such as the Seitan Chicken and Soya Keema alongside popular dishes such as the Moving Mountains Burger. Early risers can take advantage of the new twists to the exciting breakfast and brunch menus, which include Buffalo Florentine Pancake and Buffalo Benedict Pancake alongside three takeaway breakfast pots prefect for those on the move. Making sure that every mealtime is instagrammable, the all-new rainbow bagels add an extra layer of excitement.

The bar will boast a second-to-none drinks menu, pleasing Craft connoisseurs with a choice of six local beers from Thornbridge and Bradfield breweries on tap. Six different cider lines will be available, with the ever-popular Lilley’s just one of the rotating options to choose from. Can cocktails and a wide range of spirits complete the drinks list.
