The new bar will take the place of the former Sleigh Bar at the top of Fargate during this year’s Sheffield Christmas Market

Last month, we told you that the popular Sleigh Bar, a regular fixture at the top of Fargate as part of the Sheffield Christmas Market, would this year be replaced by the ‘even bigger’ Alpine Bar, and we can now reveal further details ahead of its arrival in November.

Operators tell us that the new bar will be open from 10am – 10pm every day from 14 November, right up until Christmas Eve, making it the perfect spot for post shopping drinks, after work get togethers and somewhere warm and inviting to catch up with family and friends over the festive period.

Julie Wilson of Percival Events, who run Sheffield’s Christmas Market, told VIBE: “We are pleased to have some great drinks offered in the bar this year. Featuring coffee and hot chocolate from Forge Coffee Roasters, toffee apple cider from Brothers as well as a whole host of other drinks including a wide selection of gins, beer and of course the Christmas classic, mulled wine.

“Our friendly bar staff look forward to welcoming you to the Alpine Bar.”

The popular Sleigh Bar has been a feature of the Sheffield’s Christmas Market for the past six years and organisers announced that it would not be returning to Sheffield via Facebook in August.

Following the announcement, the Christmas Market organisers revealed that a new, ‘even bigger Alpine Bar’, would take its place.

Julie said: “Whilst we’ve loved having the Sleigh Bar with us, it’s become time for a change. We’ve got a brand new bar in that’s bigger, to accommodate more people.

“Every year we like to change things and the comments have been that the markets have been a bit samey, so we just wanted to mix things up a bit.

“Alpine bar is run by a small independent Sheffield company and we welcome any suggestions from people of what they would love to see.”
