£10k Christmas voucher giveawayPosted by: Richard Abbey
Take advantage of a free £5 voucher to spend on the best local produce, goods and gifts at the Moor Market this Christmas.
2020 has been a tough year for everyone, including the lovely folk down at the Moor Market, and that’s exactly why they’re not about to let Christmas 2020 pass by without doing something extra special for the people of Sheffield.
In order to give people a little help with their Christmas shopping this year, the market traders have joined forces with the market’s management on The Great Christmas Giveaway, where, from Thursday 10 December, they will give away a whopping £10,000 worth of £5 vouchers.
Councillor Mary Lea, Cabinet Member for Culture, Parks and Leisure at Sheffield City Council said: “The Great Christmas Giveaway is a way of giving something back to the Moor Market customers after a very tough year.
“The Markets have worked hard to create a safe shopping experience, traders have been here to support Sheffield throughout the pandemic, adapting and going the extra mile to support customers.
“Although we have still seen thousands of customers shopping in the market or online, people are being made redundant or being furloughed, money is tight for many and the uncertainty caused by Coronavirus is reducing spend as well as actual visits.
“Our aim is to encourage more people to shop here, whether that’s for gifts, goodies or groceries and generally boost awareness of the Moor Market. We have created a fully Covid-secure environment to allow people to shop safely with us and want to share the market’s fun, friendly and festive atmosphere with everyone in Sheffield as we all countdown to Christmas.”
Bruce Payne, who co-owns The Market Chippy along with his wife Helen, added: “In my opinion, there’s more knowledgeable traders in here than what you would get on certain counters in supermarkets. We offer a safe space, so we're hoping to encourage people to come out and do Christmas shopping safely, but also at the same time grab a bargain.”
Two thousand £5 vouchers, which can be redeemed anywhere in the market, will be digitally distributed directly to customers in the form of QR codes, in order to make the giveaway Coronavirus safe.
To cater for customers who are shielding, 200 of those vouchers will be distributed to people who cannot attend the market in person. These vouchers can be redeemed using the Moor Markets new online delivery platform, Chefchef.store.
As well as the vouchers, traders will also be making the market as fun and as great value as possible by offering a huge array of one-off Christmas deals in the run up to the big day, and a special stand-alone Twelve Deals of Christmas promotion is set to offer deals that’ll knock your Christmas stockings off.
Bruce said: “The Twelve Deals of Christmas is another giveaway where traders, on selected days, are offering a better deal than you would ever normally get from their stalls, but it is only available on that one particular day.”
