A first-of-its kind photo book has been created to thank doctors and nurses who have saved the lives of children
The Sheffield Hospitals Charity has been so overwhelmed with messages of thanks at the Jessop Wing hospital that it has created a first of its kind photo book filled with pictures and messages, with a dedicated event planned for families to give their thanks in person.
Nicole Higgins was one of the many mums who sent in a message, which expressed her admiration for the care and support provided by the staff on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Nicole’s baby, Jack, was born at 35 weeks after she suffered a complication which meant he had to be delivered by emergency caesarean section.
To give Jack the best chance, he was then transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Jessop Wing Hospital, where they had the specialist equipment and staff that he needed to aid his recovery.
Nicole said: “I see staff at Jessops as gods, I know it sounds silly but they did the impossible and continued to care for Jack around the clock. They didn’t sugar coat anything and never kept any information from us. I thank them so much for that. They made us feel like family - even the cleaners took my mind off everything just for a few minutes.”
