The pupils of Bradfield Dungworth Primary School have been busy with the Parents & Friends Association Fundraising Challenge - Let’s get Walking!
The challenge is for each ‘house’ at school to walk or run the distance from John O’Groats to Land's End. The total distance to travel the whole length between the two extremities is 874 miles - thats a long way for little legs!
The children have totted up their weekly milage and have been watching the flags in house colours move across the map of the UK as they have collected sponsorship and milage! The children have had a great time taking part.
"I've enjoyed it because you get to spend more time with your family. Me and my Mum walk to school every day now. – Lillay Bower
"It's made me fitter and my dog's sleeping better." – Josh Swindin-Medlar
Due to Covid, the usual fundraising activities have not been possible so the PFA have looked for other ideas to involve the school community and raise funds to purchase new tablets and IT equipment for the children to use in lessons.
"It's been great to see families walking and cycling and getting out and about. As a small, rural school we want to provide the very best resources and equipment for all our children and the support from parents and the local community is invaluable in helping us afford this," said Helen Adams, Headteacher.
