Hear what David Wykes has to say about his latest book
“The standard by which other cookbooks will be judged”
“Up there with the likes of El Bulli’s book”.
These were just some of the comments on Verveine, the sensational new book by David Wykes, when it made its debut at the Restaurant Show in Olympia, London. Showgoers queued for a first look at David’s long-awaited book, which is based on his eponymous restaurant Verveine, in Milford-on-sea, Hampshire.
The launch was a personal triumph for David, whose style is epitomised by the 224-pagelarge format book. His achievement was all the more remarkable given the size of Verveine, which has a mere 20 covers.
David said; “I had wanted to produce a book for years. Then I had a lucky break at the Restaurant Show a couple of years ago when I came across RMC Media, a publishers based in Sheffield. They took care of everything and here’s the result for everyone to see.
“It seemed only appropriate that I should launch the book at the same place as the idea was first mooted”.
The book draws on themes largely based around the sea, and indeed David also owns a top-quality fishmonger, which forms part of the building and supplies his restaurant as well as the local market.
