Woman from Chapeltown to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for the mental health charity
Christmas is a time for giving, and whilst it is important to treat our friends and family, it is also a time to remember those people we don’t know who may be struggling at this time of year.
Gemma Lupton, a trainee psychologist and qualified personal trainer from Chapeltown is on a mission to raise money for Mind, the mental health charity and she needs your help.
On 24 January, Gemma will be flying to Tazmania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the charity.
“Every year, I challenge myself to something different, from bungee jumps to bikini competitions, and next year, I am taking on my biggest challenge yet.
“I chose Mind as my charity because I am passionate about mental health, not only on a professional level as a trainee psychologist, but on a personal level as a sufferer of mental health issues myself.
“I have had severe anxiety for as long as I can remember. Having a mental illness used to stop me doing things, but I refuse to let it stop me anymore. That’s why I am doing this. It will be far out of my comfort zone, pushing the boundaries of my physical abilities and it will definitely challenge me mentally.”
So far, Gemma has raised £2,240.20 out of her £2,575 target, meaning she is 86 per cent of the way there. Help her in the final push to meet her target by donating to her JustGiving page this Christmas.
Mind believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. Donate to this worthy charity so they can continue to raise awareness and support those with mental health issues.
