Enter into a world filled with games, music and booze - An experience to remember at Roxy Ball Room, Merrion Street
Northside Magazine was given the exciting opportunity to try out the gaming utopia, full of all of your favourite arcade machines, games and music. With Bank Shot Shuffleboard, Duckpin Bowling, Crazy Pool, Karaoke rooms, Arcade Machines, Beer Pong, Shuffleboard, Ping Pong and Pool, Roxy Ball Room has it all.
As you enter through the front door you are immediately greeted by an extremely friendly staff team on hand to help guide you and to serve you. I was very impressed with the layout of the place, all games were tucked into their perfect place making for a more private and enjoyable experience.
Pool was a highlight with the high ceilings and murals filling the walls. There was enough room to comfortably play, there were no restrictions as the pool table had easily enough space around it. Even if the venue filled up there would be plenty of room for you and your friends to have a great time.
Drinks are brought straight over to wherever you are playing, the time spent playing the games is not interrupted. Roxy have a vast selection of beer, cocktails, spirits and soft drinks for your enjoyment. There’s no better mix than ‘booze and games’. The members of staff came around the tables asking people if they could get people any other drinks to take around with them.
There is a perfect mix of music including artists like Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, WALK THE MOON and many more. The music feels curated for entertainment and certainly accompanies the games that you are playing. The music was noticeably at the perfect volume for you to chat between yourselves but also to break into a little dance after a couple of drinks.
Crazy Pool was a new experience with a mixture of crazy golf and pool, a game played only with a snooker cue and a golf ball. There are two different ways that you can play, one is the standard way of playing crazy golf by tallying up how many shots it takes to get the ball in, the other is a version of how many times it takes you to get a hole in one. It was a very clever idea that seemed to work very well with groups of friends screaming and laughing out of enjoyment, with nine table top holes it made for an entertaining time.
The food was absolutely delicious - the hand rolled Pizza was the perfect end to the perfect time at Roxy. I had the chicken and chorizo pizza, it was delicate and flavoursome with a lovely staff member checking if everything was all alright and offering different alcoholic options to accompany the meal.
If you are ever in Leeds or want to travel for a time filled with fun, you should definitely check out all that Roxy Ball Room has to offer. With the most entertainment options in the country, there’s something for everyone from singing at the top of your lungs in the karaoke rooms to playing a civilised game of shuffleboard. 18+
