Rasta Santa goes virtual

Children’s events company BOOMCHIKKABOOM have joined forces with Pink Gorilla/Hairy Lemon and production company 4i events to bring you a virtual Santa experience with a difference!

Meet Rasta Claus; he’s the ‘cool’ cousin of Father Christmas and this year families can enjoy a twist of the timeless tradition from the comfort of their own homes.

Faye Kenny, founder of BOOMCHIKKABOOM, said: “We have been working with Rasta Claus for the past few years and the response we get from children and families is unbelievable! 2020 has been a tough year, and we didn’t want people to miss out this year so have teamed up with Pink Gorilla Hairy Lemon and 4i events so they can still see him but virtually.”

The man behind Rasta Claus is Leeds based musician Cleve Freckleton who created a whole new Christmas character a few years ago with his very own backstory. Rasta Claus is the child of Father Time and Mother Nature, and unlike a traditional Santa who is known for giving out gifts, Rasta Claus is all about giving back and has his own motto ‘Give a lickle back’.

Cleve, the creator of Rasta Claus, said: “This time of year is not just about asking what the kids want for Christmas but making them aware of how they can give back to those who are perhaps less fortunate.”

In the true spirit of ‘give a lickle back’ £1 of every booking will be donated to the charity Candlelighters who support children and their families throughout Yorkshire who are affected by childhood cancer.  He will also be virtually visiting some of the families Candlelighters support.

Amy Harrison, Deputy Fundraising Manager at Candlelighters, said: “We are so excited to be working with Rasta Claus this Christmas and I know the families who meet him will have a great time! By booking a virtual experience with Rasta Claus, families across Yorkshire will ensure that we can continue to bring light to families affected by childhood cancer in these darkest of times”.

Parents can book a 5-minute zoom session for their children from the comfort of their own home from the 11 December and sessions start from £17.50. For further details, please click here.
