Leeds-based Dough in the City have a brand new menu to share

From ice-cold craft beers and creative cocktails, to hearty dishes with a subtle edge, Dough in the City has established itself as a rebellious modern pub with its own distinct flavour. Brought to you by the award-winning team behind Vice & Virtue, Feed and Aperitivo, founders Laura and Luke have built up a loyal foodie following with their ever-evolving dining options.

The addition of celebrated Chef Jonathan Hawthorne to the Vice group last year has only strengthened their status. Their latest dishes perfectly balance comfort food with contemporary flair, to create an accessible menu that has something to suit all pallets.

The starters menu is peppered with both new and traditional plates, ranging from a classic style Prawn Cocktail to a fiery Buttermilk & Sriracha Fried Chicken. The Proper Falafel served with Asian slaw, olives and hummus is a fine example of a modern vegan dish that will appeal to meat lovers too, while the Cauliflower Bhaji with mango chutney and raita will rival your local takeaway without breaking a sweat.

A global affair

The main plates are an equally global affair, taking inspiration from Europe, Japan and of course, Britain. Highlights include the mighty Saddleback Pork Loin with beer batter onion rings and Bearnaise, and the crowd pleasing Dough Chicken Katsu Curry which comes with Jasmine rice, lime and almonds.

Spring Risotto takes the best seasonal veg and mixes it up with wild garlic and poached organic egg, resulting in a dish that’s vibrant and fresh. The 24 Hour Braised Ox Cheek is destined to become a bestseller with its rich, melt in the mouth goodness and side serving of truffle mash.

And, because no modern pub worth its salt should be without its very own burger creation, the Shorthorn Beef Burger does more than enough to rival your go-to BBQ joint.

The small yet perfectly formed selection of desserts on offer includes a show-stopping Jameson’s Whisky Sticky Toffee Pudding. Served with raisin, maple and pecan ice cream and drizzled with toffee sauce, it’s a pudding well worth saving space for.

Go posh

Whether you drop into Dough for Sunday dinner or Burger Night Monday, guests can expect an ever-changing mix of daily deals that provide exceptional value given the quality of ingredients on offer.

The Sunday dinner menu itself is priced at just £10, and comes in four different versions, traditional, posh, vegan and hangover. Go posh and you could be tucking into 28 day aged venison one week, and prime beef steak the next.

Opt for hangover style and you could be tucking into Korean fried chicken or a pimped up version of your favourite donner kebab. Dough steps the atmosphere up a notch for bottomless Saturdays, where tasty dishes can be enjoyed with endless Porn Star Martini’s.

On steak night Wednesday, diners can expect sides and a glass of premium Malbec along with their prime cut of beer for just £15, making this a perfect mid-week date night destination.

Founder and Executive Head Chef Luke Downing had this to say ahead of the new launch: "We always wanted to offer Leeds something different to what people expect from us with Dough, and I’m confident our new offering is our best yet. We’ve tweaked bestselling dishes and added some incredible new plates, which offer the best produce for an excellent price.’’

"We wanted dishes that everyone can enjoy, whether it’s your aunt Mabel who likes to keep it traditional, or your foodie partner. And, because we’re essentially a modern pub, we’re doing some amazing deals all week, from our Sunday dinners to our bottomless brunch. Whether you want to drop in for a few beers and some dirty hangover food, or cocktails and dishes that are a little more refined, you’ll find it all here at Dough.’’
