It’s all change for the Beehive Thorner as they return with new management, a new team – and a delicious new menu.

Offering a contemporary take on the traditional, rustic English countryside restaurant, The Beehive had barely arrived before it was forced to close temporarily due to the global pandemic. The return marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the restaurant, and their latest offering is one that commands repeat visits.

Take the summer a la carte menu for example, which is bursting with British flair and exotic modern twists. Highlights from the starters section includes the Tuna Verdita with cucumber, black sesame and soy, and the Tempura Sardines with tartare sauce, dill pea and lemon. The Beef Fillet Carpaccio delivers a fruity spin on the classic dish and is served with crème fraiche, peach and rocket.

Temptation continues with the main plates, which offers Monkfish with pancetta, baby gem, peas, shallot, chive and cream, and the Chicken served with truffle donut, corn, shallot and girolles. As you would expect, the vegan dishes are equally as inspired, and include the fragrant Braised Fennel with beets, spinach and asparagus, and the lightly spiced Harissa Carrots with yoghurt, lentils, chickpeas and broccoli.

Another standout poised to be a best seller is the Beef Fillet served with orzo, truffle, parmesan, spinach and black treacle. The new sandwich menu too is peppered with a diverse range of irresistible fillings, ranging from a classic Salt Beef Reuben to a Battered Pollock Fish Sandwich.

Beehive regulars will be pleased to learn that their legendary Sunday lunch is also returning. Time and effort has been taken to source the very best fresh local ingredients, from the prime meat cuts to the organic vegetables.

The modern yet cosy bar area allows those looking to drop in for a casual drink an impressive selection of cask ales, wines, premium spirits and expertly crafted cocktails. General Manager Jessica Georgallis and head chef Craig Thorpe have worked together previously and bring a combined 20 years of hospitality experience to the new operation.

Jessica had this to say just ahead of the relaunch: “After a challenging first half of the year, we’re thrilled to be bringing The Beehive back with a stellar team and what we believe to be a stunning representation of modern British cuisine. It’s great to be working alongside our Head Chef Craig again, who never fails to impress with his culinary prowess!

"We can’t wait to welcome customers both new and old, and from near and far. What we have to offer North Leeds is truly special and well worth a trip out to Thorner.”
