Leeds: Past, Present and Progress will take place during Leeds International festival

The Leeds Independent Food and Drink Academy will host a series of forum events with the aim to assist small businesses in the city.

The forums will be organised by Thom Hetherington, IFDA consultant, who will be covering topics such as technology innovation and business strategy. Members and non-members will be invited, as the event looks to offer professional insight and guidance.

Thom said: “We felt that with the IFDA Forums it would have been too easy for the events to turn into simple cheerleading, focusing on what Leeds does well, but ultimately changing nothing. Instead we knew that we needed to make a disruptive statement with this first forum, by taking a very honest look about where Leeds currently sits in a broader context, and yes highlighting what it does well, but also focusing on where it could learn or improve.’’

The first forum, “Leeds: Past, Present and Progress”, will be hosted by The Tetley on Tuesday 25 April, from 4-8pm and will feature in the inaugural Leeds International Festival. Speakers at the event include Jamie Campbell (CGA Peach), Lucy Noone (Allied London) and Martin Wolstencroft (Arc Inspiration).

IFDA Forum 2 - ‘’Not the menu and the wine list, but the licence and the lease’’ Tuesday 27 June.

IFDA Forum 3 – ‘’Tech disruption, from data to delivery’’ Tuesday 5 September.

IFDA Forum 4 – ‘’Lifestyle, long term or flip? Tuesday 17 October.

All forums will be free to members, or £25 each for non-members. Head here for more info.
