Done the Yorkshire Three Peaks? It’s time to try the Yorkshire Dales Challenge Weekend

A local mountain leader and walking guide from Yorkshire has devised a new challenge based on the popular Three Peaks Challenge - the Yorkshire Dales Challenge Weekend.

Mark Killala of Northern Guiding says the Rio Olympics will have had a positive effect on people’s attitudes and determination to taking up challenges such as this one.

The weekend will take place on 24 and 25 September and is an ideal team bonding event. Teams are invited to take part in the challenge as a charity fundraiser or as a personal challenge.

Day one covers 24 miles in just 12 hours over Yorkshire’s Three Peaks: Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. On day two, challenge participants tackle 18 miles of Wharfedale’s Three Peaks in ten hours: Great Whernside, Buckden Pike and Firth Fell. It’s ideal for those who have already completed the Three Peaks Challenge and are looking for the next step.

The Yorkshire Dales Challenge Weekend costs £100 per person with £5 going to the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association.
