Hydra Creative's work for Kontakt Hub has put them in the running for a top award
Sheffield digital agency in the running for top tech prize
Hydra Creative have been shortlisted for this year's Big Chip Awards, one of the UK's most established digital and technology awards.
This year marks twenty years for the Big Chip Project celebrating excellence in digital technology across the North- making them the longest running digital and tech awards in the North of England.
The Big Chip Project highlights the strength and diversity of digital and technology in the North, with entries welcomed from Derbyshire right up to the Scottish Border. With 19 entry categories spanning the digital sector ranging from user experience to animation, the categories demand an incredibly high digital, creative and tech standard. This year the board's distinguished panel features such industry figureheads as BBC's Bill Thompson, design expert Malcolm Garrett, Nikki Barton of British Airways, Thinking Digital's Herb Kim, Jenni Tennison of Open Data Institute and Martha Lane-Fox.
Hydra Creative have been shortlisted for Best B2C Project thanks to their work with Kontakt Hub. Hydra were tasked with producing an online platform for developers to sell sound libraries for use with Kontakt. Kontakt is a software audio sampler for musicians created by Native Instruments.
The online platform needed to be highly versatile yet provide an impeccable user experience and easy functionality for both developers and buyers. The end product was a site with full e-commerce functionality that appealed directly to the intended target audiences, was simple to navigate and that could be easily built upon over time in line with developments in technology. In black and white, this led to a bounce rate reduction of 96 per cent and a 349 per cent increase in page views.
Glyn Lloyd, owner of Kontakt Hub, said, "Hydra Creative did an amazing job. Not only did they develop top class creative designs and concepts, they also put everything together in a very flexible way to allow Kontakt Hub to operate smoothly. Customer feedback about the new site has been overwhelmingly positive and we can update the site, run promotions and track performance much easier than we could have imagined. Thanks Hydra."
The other finalists for Best B2C Project see Hydra in good company, with shortlisted projects for high profile brands, including Chester Zoo, Cox & Cox and Glasgow Airport.
Gemma Daniels, client services director at Hydra Creative said: “We are honoured to be shortlisted, and would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients for choosing to work with us on such exciting projects.”
The winners will be announced on Wednesday 4th July, during an awards ceremony held at Manchester's Hilton Hotel. Watch this space!
