Young People Invited to Develop DJ & Band Skills

Doncaster Music Education Hub is working with music professionals from darts to provide a fun and relaxed experience at The Point.
Band Basics
Young people aged 8-12 have the opportunity to work with professional musicians and find out how it feels to be in a band. The group will be able to explore playing drums, guitars, bass, synths and percussion; developing jamming and listening skills by playing with others. At the end of the final session, there will be a mini sharing for parents and carers and young people will share what they have been up to.
The first block of sessions runs from 4:15pm - 5:30pm on Thursdays between 20th January and 10th February.
DJ Basics
Young people aged 8-12 are also invited to create their own beats and test their skills as a DJ.In this beginner's guide, the group will be able to create beats and grooves and see how they mix and interact together with different styles and tempos. At the end of the final session, there will be a mini sharing for parents and carers and young people will share what they have been up to.
The first block of sessions runs from 4:15pm - 5:30pm on Thursdays between 24th February and 17th March.
Venue
The Point, on South Parade in central Doncaster, is a Covid-safe, fully accessible and friendly venue, open to all. Young people will need to wear a face covering whilst moving through the building and to bring their own bottles of water.
How to Book
Band Basics and DJ Basics sessions are all free to attend, but places are limited so booking is essential.
