As you may have guessed by the recent blooming daffodils scattered among the parks and sold to brighten our homes… spring is among us! The season of hope, promise and inspiration has arrived and at just the right time. With restrictions eased, we hope to put the world of Covid behind us and focus on a bright, sunny future.
Arguably one of the most profound seasons in terms of positivity, creativity and new life; spring personified would tell you she’s excited to change your life! The 20th March officially marks the start of our new season, bringing the return of the bids, luscious leaves on the trees, new born animals and all of the beautiful flowers blossoming.
Countries across the world welcome spring with clean houses, presents and celebrations.
This year it’s more important than ever to see spring as a celebration of new starts and ideas bursting from the ground like the return of cherry blossom and flower meadows. Alongside the celebration of Easter, International Women’s Day, Holi festival, Mother’s Day and April Fool’s Day, we should celebrate the entirety of Spring!
For anything from some peaceful time to think and relax, to a sociable trip to catch up with a loved one, walks are the way forward. Exercising with minimal effort whilst developing your connection to nature and time for reflection, walks work wonders for your health, both physically and mentally.
In keeping with spring activities and the farmers sowing seeds for new crops, gardening is a great way to embrace the season. Try planting vegetables, seeds or flowers, trimming trees and bushes, buying new plants or blooming hanging baskets. If you’re lucky enough to own a garden, utilise your outdoor space, get a sun-lounger or garden furniture, a canopy to sit under or even trampoline, and just spend time out there! Alternatively, you can join gardening clubs, invest in an allotment, start or join a walking group, plant flowers at your local park, simply be creative with the outdoors.
A University of Michigan study found that spending time outside in the sunny spring weather isn't just a mood booster, it actually can change the way people think; finding that being outdoors broadened participants' minds, leaving them more open to new information and creative thoughts. So why not partake in spring this year and embrace everything it has to offer you!
