Daisy Watts donated the money to cancer charities
Seven-year-old Daisy Watts, from Misson, Doncaster, has raised almost £20,000 for charity by selling an abstract painting she painted herself.
Daisy, in her wish to support Cancer Research UK and Doncaster based charity Firefly, had drawn a stunning abstract painting depicting forget-me-nots for those people who have lost their fight against cancer, balanced with bright flowers for those that survive.
To help raise the profile of Daisy’s fundraising endeavours, art gallery Limited 2 Art, Bawtry, framed and displayed the piece in the gallery, and produced 100 special edition prints to sell at the Equinox Charity Ball for £100 each. A bid of £9,500 was made for the original artwork. In total, almost £20,000 was raised by Daisy.
Ruth Worsman, owner of Limited 2 Art, said: “It has been a true delight to support Daisy exceed her dream of raising enough money to buy a wheel for the next Firefly vehicle.
“In reality, she has raised almost enough to buy the whole van which is an amazing achievement for a 7 year old girl, but which recognises the beauty of her art and her incredible talent.”
