Standing At The Sky's Edge promises to be a treat for Richard Hawley fans
New show set to be the highlight of the theatre's 2018/19 season
It happened to Abba, it happened to Queen, now it’s happened to Sheffield’s own pop legend Richard Hawley
They all had their music turned into musicals and Hawley’s ‘heart-breaking’ love song to Sheffield will have its premiere at The Crucible this time next year.
Written by Michael Wynne and directed by Robert Hastie, Standing at the Sky’s Edge is based on Hawley’s 2012 album of the same name.
It tells the story of the people of Park Hill over the 50 years since the first tenants were given their keys in 1961.
It promises to be the highlight of the 2018/19 season at the Crucible, which will also feature a new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Kiss Me Kate.
