The £900,000 project was launched at the Showroom Cinema
Film Hub North have launched their major research audience research project at Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema.
Beyond the Multiplex: Audiences for Specialised Film in English Regions will look at ways of enabling a wider range of audience to watch more diverse films. The three year project will be led by Newcastle University in partnership with the Universities of Sheffield, Liverpool and York and will be supported by the National Lottery Funding.
The project will investigate how people watch and engage with film culture from rural film clubs to international film festivals. Data will be collected through interviews, focus groups and longitudinal surveys and compared regionally using the north west, yorkshire, north east and south west regions.
