Sheffield International Concert Season returns to Sheffield City Hall in the venue’s 85th Birthday year, bringing some of the greatest orchestras, soloists and conductors in the world to the city. You could win a pair of tickets to each of the season’s concerts, starting with The Hallé on Friday 29 September.
This fantastic prize offers the chance to experience in person the breathtaking sound of international ensembles, including the Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra, Bruckner Orchester Linz and the Brussels Philharmonic, led by inspirational conductors such as Jonathon Heyward, Mirga Gražinyte-Tyla and Sir Mark Elder. Some of the outstanding soloists taking to the famous Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall stage over the season include Alisa Weilerstein, Augustin Hadelich and Hong Xu.
Classical music has been an essential part of the City Hall’s identity since the venue first opened its doors in 1932. The following years have seen many of the world’s greatest performers grace its stage, building year on year a formidable reputation as one of the country’s leading concert halls and playing a prominent role in Sheffield’s diverse and flourishing classical offering.
Concerts at Sheffield City Hall are always a special occasion; each performance is preceded by a pre-concert talk offering a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes with one of the performers and the historic oak-panelled City Bar offers the perfect location to start the evening.
